Can I “Opt Out” / Be Waived From the Mentor Program?

Any new licensee that joins eXp Realty that has not completed a minimum of three real estate transactions (residential or land/lot sale) in the previous twelve (12) months prior to joining are required to participate in eXp’s Mentor Program. Each new agent is paired with an experienced agent who is a state broker approved Certified Mentor shortly after the new agent’s license is transferred to eXp Realty. You can not opt out of the Mentor Program. The decision to evaluate and/or issue waivers from the Program is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you’d like to know more about this process, please reach out to the Mentor Program at mentorprogram@exprealty.net.

WHO IS A MENTEE - North Carolina

Effective April 1, 2021 for NC Agents: All provisional brokers AND those who have not completed three (3) transactions within the previous twelve (12) month period are required to participate as a mentee in the Program even if North Carolina is not the primary licensed state.

WHO IS A MENTEE - Washington State

Any broker in the state of Washington who has not conducted three (3) real estate transactions in the previous twelve (12) month period AND who has been licensed for less than two years is required to participate as a mentee in the program even if Washington is not the primary licensed state.

Scenarios in which you may have been placed in the Mentor Program by error:

There are two scenarios in which a new agent is indicated as a participant for the Mentor Program in error.

  1. System and/or human error in the joining application with transaction history data.

The decision to evaluate and/or issue waivers from the Program is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you’d like to know more about this process, please reach out to the Mentor Program at mentorprogram@exprealty.net.

When the transaction history is confirmed with the state team, they should then notify the Mentor Program team via email with the written approval to waive you from the Program.

  2. The new agent is joining a Standard, or Mega Icon Team but the team agreement has not been signed. Some states require all team leaders to be certified before being waived. Please see notes below. Team documents must be signed and returned and team members must be added to team roster before being waived from the Mentor Program.
  • Self Organized Teams require the Team Leader to be a Certified Mentor to be waived from the Mentor Program.
  • Domestic teams require the primary team lead to have a Certified Mentor if the primary member has completed less than three transactions in the 12 months prior to joining eXp. The decision to evaluate and/or issue waivers from the Program is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you’d like to know more about this process, please reach out to the Mentor Program at mentorprogram@exprealty.net.

NC requires all team leaders of all team types to be certified in order to be waived from the Program.

WA team leaders must be Managing Brokers for their team members to be waived from the Program.

*Please note that there MUST be a signed and processed team agreement on file before mentees can officially be waived from the Mentor Program. Please review the Knowledge Base Article on “Teams” for further clarification.
